We are creating a unique and inspirational space for Toronto’s Interior Design Show 2011 as part of their Sibling Revelry exhibit. The Sibling Revelry concept brings together four of Canada's sibling design teams to each create a unique 600 square foot space for the event. We've re-imagined living space, a space devoted to realizing the potential of pleasure and function. Eat, sleep, love, work, entertain, read, watch, live surrounded by pieces that inspire and stimulate as they function and fulfill. As with all our work this space has been designed with a focus on sustainability, built using responsibly sourced material and made locally. We will also be showing our Cut Ups series as part of the Limited Edition/Studio North exhibit area. Cut Ups are about reuse, infusing cast-off materials with new life. Combining materials that most would consider waste and creating simple and unique objects. Ranging from furniture, lighting and household objects to toys and jewellery, Cut Ups are diverse but share a common origin; the off-cuts from our Toronto studio. Sometimes just wood, other times transformed using found objects and hardware, we give these waste streams new beauty and purpose.
Toronto Design Week 2011 runs January 24-30, venues across the city will host contemporary design events featuring local and international design. Though its centred around the Interior Design Show, there are also countless offsite opportunities to experience and interact with inspiring design and those involved in the community. Check out Toronto Design Offsite for complete listings. We will be participating in Come Up To My Room, MADE at Home and Thinking, Making, Making Thinking. More details on all those events soon.
