LAST HURRAH
Over the last 12+ years we have produced over 40 pieces with more than 100 individual shoe lasts and we continue to explore possibilities for the remaining lasts. In 2008 our father stumbled upon a vast pile of wooden shoe lasts at a Northern Ontario fishing camp. They were marked for firewood and he knew we’d find a more constructive purpose for them. The lasts captivated us with their workmanship and sculptural beauty and we’ve been experimenting with them since then; creating a limited series of objects that honours the craftsmanship with which they were created and pays tribute to the artistry of the cobbler and cordwainer.
Originally exhibited at Come Up To My Room 2008 at The Gladstone Hotel and selected for Wry + Ginger by Azure Magazine for the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, NYC 2008.
